“God...damn...it...” She huffed, and puffed, taking each rung, one at a time. River paused halfway up the fire escape, utterly out of breath. A gust of wind barrelled past, between the apartment buildings, and she clenched every part of her anatomy capable of clenching, plastering herself flat to the wall. She seriously 'needed' some sort of gadgets, or gizmos, or technical doodads. She needed 'something'! Running across the city, out of breath, catching buses, hopping on the subway...clambering up rickety old fire escapes and stairwells...this wasn't good for her image! She was Dame Danger, after all!
